Blog Maintenance

In case you haven't noticed, we've been doing some maintenance on our blog. Our FOs and WIPs are now listed on separate pages (links are above the blog posts). We also have an About Us page and a page for useful links.

We've also added a list of our labels to the left sidebar to make it easier to find posts about a certain topic.

We moved the FOs and WIPs to their own pages because our sidebar was getting too long and unwieldy, especially after adding the labels. We're looking for a new layout that will look good, better suit our needs and will allow us to show our WIPs (with progress bars, which can't be used on the WIPs page) and recent FOs on our main blog page, along with all the information currently there, without making the sidebar 50x as long as the average screen. So far we haven't found what we want, but we're still looking. We're also planning a new look/feel/color scheme for the blog, so keep an eye out for those upcoming changes!

changes and a wip

Some changes are being made here at PixieRose Knits. Before both Amie and myself would sign in as pixierose to make post. This got a little confusing for some people (example when my local knit group asked me about teaching knitting when that was Amie). So now we are posting as separate identities. It also got a little confusing when I'd comment on other blogs. I've commented as PixieRose, Gayle_Rose, JessicaRose, etc. Now I'll post as JessicaRose. The goal is also to post more. I think I can easily accomplish this. Amie has a lot on her plate right now. Her wedding is coming up and work and what not. But hopefully she'll start posting more too because she is an amazing knitter and needs to show her stuff off more. That and come on, she created our blog. As of right now she hasn't created her "identity" but I'm sure she will soon.

So this is my first post on here as JessicaRose. And for my first post I'll show off progress on the wedding lace.

New blog for us, woohoo!

Since Jess and I always post all our knitting stuff in our respective LiveJournals, thereby subjecting a lot of uninterested nonknitters to our content , I thought it was about time we created a knitting blog. A shared one, since we're basically the same person anyway. Besides, we always wanted to start a crafting business...now, if we ever do anything with that idea, we've already got our blog all set up here.

And besides, it's hard for me to keep up with projects on LiveJournal. It'll be much easier to track progress on here, since all the posts will be about knitting...well, okay, mostly about knitting. There may be a few other crafts sprinkled in as well.

Even if she and I are the only two who ever read this, that's okay too. We're writing mostly for ourselves (and each other) anyway.

I'm still working on customizing this, by the way. It's pretty ugly right now, since it's in the middle of a transformation. It'll be pretty when I finish.
