some FO's enjoy

Seriously need to update more. Will try to work on that. I have plenty to show. I finished Rogue. I've knit 4 pair of socks (can only show off 3 as one pair was a test knit and the patterns not released yet. Will show them off as soon as I can tho because I love them). so lets get to those pictures.

Rogue

Pattern: "Rogue" by Jenna Wilson
Yarn: Patons Classic Merino in Dark Natural Mix (a little over 5 skeins)
Needles: 4.5mm
Started: Aug 25, 2007 (official cast on)
Finished: Feb 19, 2008 (officially got everything woven in and sewn together)
notes: I learned a lot with this pattern. I could have gotten it done a lot faster if I hadn't kept hiding it behind my couch. I hide it for various reasons. Either I was struggling a little or just didnt' have time to work on it. Its a good pattern. I might knit it again someday.

Justin's Second pair of socks

Pattern: Basic k3p1 rib with a slip stitch heel flap and a round toe
Yarn: Koigu in p312
Needles: 2.0mm
Started: Jan 2
Finished Jan 8
notes: Had a little trouble finding a toe. But Justin loves this round toe and has requested it again on his next pair.

Ugliest socks EVER

Pattern: another k3p1 rib witha short row heel and standard wedge toe
Yarn: Skacel Collection, Inc. Trampoline
Needles: 2.0mm
Started: Feb 12
finished Feb 17
notes: these were my feb stash socks. The yarn had been in stash for several years. I got it when I was first learning socks and dont recommend stretchy yarn when learning. I figured it was right with the stash club to get it out of my stash. I picked the yarn when pregnant and wow its UGLY knit up.

Lenore

Pattern:
"Lenore" by Stephanie Pearl-McPhee (ravelry link)
Yarn: DiC smooshy in Gothic Rose
Needles: 2.0mm
Started: Feb 17
Finished Feb 22
notes: The yarn is so soft and squishy. Had about 32g leftover. The pattern is well written and knit up fast.

Now I'm working on Amie's wedding lace. Sorry no current pictures, but will try to get one soon.

clessidra progress

Been working on the clessidra's after a bit of a break. Had to stop to get some baby knits and some mittens out of the way. I have more baby knits I need to get done but I also want to finish these up since they were started forever ago. I've finished the calf shapping and am now working on the ankle shaping. After that they should finish up rather quickly (i mean it doesn't take long to knit a foot). I have real progress on them now considering it was only a week or ago that they only had a couple inches.

Just thought I'd update on progress. Will try to post finished pictures soon. Then I'm off to knit a baby sweater and finish Rogue (which I'm working on the hood. so only a hood and two sleeves to go and I'm done. would have already been finished with that one too except baby knits are getting in the way. well that and i messed up and had to frog back some. having to frog part of what you thought was finished tends to slow you down a bit. you lose motivation because lets face it frogging just isn't fun). But if I do keep up my progress on it I might finish mine before Amie. Hear that Amie perhaps I really did catch up to you and its like we knit them together. hehe

sock post (picture heavy)

first up is the first clessidra. The second one has been cast on and I've gotten about 3inches worked so far.

Next are decent pictures of the monkey socks.

And finally decent pictures of the waving lace socks out of the handpainted yarn I got in my sock kit swap (thanks Genevieve)

I've cast on for my Rogue Hoodie again. This time not screwing it up. I've finished the hem and part of the bottom cable. Working on the kangaroo pocket (almost finished). Its going well and I hope to post some progress pictures soon.

rambling

I still haven't gotten Justin to model his socks for pictures. Its not that he is unwilling its just that we are so stretched for time right now. We are in the process of moving to our new house and doing major remodeling over there while we are at it. Not to mention he is in the Navy and gone a lot.

I've made some progress to the falling leaves blanket. But not much. I'm bored with it and in no hurry to finish it. Its just a filler project to take up time and yarn that I dont want to use for something else.

And my Rogue... sigh. Its officially been frogged and not restarted yet. I'm going to wait until I get into the new house and get settled before I attempt it again. Amie's Rogue looks amazing (saw it in person when I was in KY). Makes me really want to get mine going again. But with everything else and the false start to it before I think I need to wait until I have more time to devote to it. I know once I get started again it will work out fine and things will start to move along like they should. But since its suppose to (note the wording "suppose to") warm up I figure I have time before next fall/winter to get it finished for wear.

That's the update for now. I could include that I ordered yarn. Well Amie did and I piggiebacked on her knitpicks order. I got some bare gloss for clessandra stockings and then some shadows lace yarn to play with (i have no project in mind for it. I just wanted to try it out. but I got enough for a stole or shawl of some sort). Then I went the other day and ordered a bunch more sock yarn from them (I was having a really rotten day and Justin told me that I should order the yarn for his socks. he knew it would make me happy and it did). I got some more essentials in dusk and grass (the two colors I already had. I told him to pick a color and those are what he picked. I used grass before on Amie's socks and have a little left and I had some dusk for me that I've not used yet. So we'll each have a pair of dusk socks.) Then I got some bare sock yarn to try to dye into the purple shade that I keep dreaming about (really i got 2 skeins of bare fingerweight wool and the fingering weight superwash. so I have enough for 4 normal pairs of socks. I'm going to check it out and use some for my purple socks and some for some socks for justin and then just have left over for a future project). And I ordered a pair of dpns from them to try out in the size that my birch needles are in that I dont like.

ok seriously that's all I'm going to update.

Rogue Disaster

My Rogue is a complete disaster right now. I'm on row 9 of chart A and I'm about to pick up a lifeline back on the turning row, pull everything out and redo it. My cable doesn't look right at all. It actually isn't even anything at all. It just looks horrible. I think since I knit left to right I have to put more thought into this or something. Something I'm doing just isn't right at all. I've never had a problem with this before and I've always been really good at cables, but for some reason this looks like complete crap. it just looks like a mess of purl bumps. you can't make out any of the knits really (thus no real cable). The part that really sucks is that I'm pretty sure the reason I was iffy about the yarn before was because I'd knit with some that had been frogged. And now I'm about to frog and reknit again. I'm not sure this is even going to be worth it at all. sigh

Rogue update

So I went ahead and continued to knit Rogue. I'm still iffy on the yarn, but its a lot better now. I think it was a problem at first because I was knitting with some that had been frogged. Its still pretty fuzzy and I'm sure it will fuzz and pill like crazy after a couple wearings but, you get what you pay for. I'd love to make this again in some cascade superwash. That would be awesome. I'm not very far into the pattern (I'm on like the 4th row of the first chart) but I don't want to put it down. I think (like Pixie) this is going to go a lot faster than I originally thought.

Just thought I'd post a quick update before I force myself to put it down and head off to bed. Oh and I did finish the first sock of the pair for Justin. I had him try it on the other day to check if it was going to be 1/2 inch short like I thought. It actually fit him like a dream (well thanks to the ribbing. I really should have put in a few more gusset increases, but he loves it and it fits and that's all that really matters). I was knitting away and asked him how tall he wanted me to go (since I originally planned to just knit until I ran out of yarn). He insisted on getting to try it on again and then decided it was the perfect legnth for ankle socks and told me to just stop where I was. I knit a couple more rows then did a sewn bind off. If I can force myself to put Rogue down long enough I'll knit up the second sock (it shouldn't take much time at all). And since I stopped before running out of yarn I think I have enough to make Nathan a matching pair *grins*.

Rogue Yarn

So the more I knit Rogue the more I realize that perhaps my yarn choice (although affordable) isn't really the best yarn for this project. My other affordable option was knitpicks. But I haven't exactly heard good things about knitting with that for sweaters (of course I hadn't exactly heard good things about knitting with this yarn for sweaters either). So now I have to decide whether I want to go ahead and knit it with this yarn, or whether I want to try to find a more suitable yarn for the project. And then if I decide to use a different yarn there is the finding the different yarn and deciding what to knit with a sweaters worth of this yarn.

I finished the autumn socks (note 100% in sidebar... which will stay up until I post pictures as a reminded that I need to get pictures). They are a bit tight and dont match up completely (stripe wise) to each other. But I like them. I wore them yesterday around the house and after a bit of walking they stretch out to fit more comfortable. I think my next socks will be a bit loser tho.

I swatched for Rogue last night. I'm getting correct gauge on size 7's with my yarn. and I like the feel and look of the fabric I'm getting. I also think I picked the exact correct color for me. I really like it. Parts of the pattern confuse me right now, but I'm hoping when I'm actually knitting it, it will magically make sense.

As for my other WIP: I keep looking at sheldon and I know I need to finish him (especially since all he needs is to be put together. I have him completly knit). For some reason I dont really have desire to pick him up. Probably because he is a gift that I dont need finished until August. I'll finish him soon enough and get pictures. He is really cute and really is a rather quick knit.

well that's all I have for now. Look forward to seeing sock pictures soon, and possible a Rogue update (if mine goes anywhere near as fast as Pixie's did). Happy knitting.

my first post!

Since Pixie made a post I suspect its time I do the same. She is currently working on Rogue (as you have read) and I'll be starting it shortly. I printed the pattern last night and have read over it a few times and will be swatching later this week. I'm making mine out of Patons Classic Merino in the dark natural mix, since I got it onsale at Joann's and it was the cheapest option available to me (money is very much an issue right now).

On the needles right now are what I'm referring to as my "autumn socks". They are being worked toe up and I kinda adapted a few patterns together with my gauge to get the socks. They are being worked on size 00 dpn's and out of knitpicks self striping yarn. I'm currently on the gusset increases for the second sock. I'm also getting a new addi turbo later this week and will start on Justin's socks next week (two at a time magic loop method). It will be my first magic loop project. But I told myself that I must learn something knew in knitting and that is what I picked. Plus I want to see if I can finish socks any faster two at a time.

I dont really have anything else to add. Right now I'm just excited that I remembered what I was told to do in order to log in (yes it actually took me a while to figure it out).

oh oh I should also mention that I won the ebay auction for that swift! Actually I was outbid then I got discouraged went to watch Heroes. Justin kept an eye on the auction and then won it for me. Our total was $21.01 + $4.55 (shipping)= $25.56. It is of course an old one. But I'm hoping it will still work beautifully and have no doubts that it will. She already confirmed payment recieved and said she'd mail it out tomorrow!

okay that's all for now, maybe a picture update on the autumn socks tomorrow.
